According to NYK’s financial report, as of the end of March 2024, the company operated a fleet of 666 vessels. Of these, 278 were owned by NYK, while 388 were chartered by ship owners, with chartered vessels accounting for 58% of the total fleet.

In January 2024, NYK held a “Dry Bulk Safety Conference” for Greek ship owners at a hotel near Athens. Additionally, during the Posidonia Maritime Exhibition in June 2024, the company hosted a party for Greek ship owners. This time, NYK held the “NYK Fleet Safety Management Meeting” in Tokyo and Imabari for its most important partners, the Japanese ship owners. By also streaming the event online, NYK facilitated discussions with overseas ship owners.

The NYK Fleet Safety Management Meeting is part of the “Remember Naka-no-Se” safety campaign, which is held annually for two months starting from July 1.

NYK initiated this campaign in response to the Diamond Grace oil spill accident in July 1997, with the aim of fostering and enhancing a culture of safe navigation among all executives, employees, and partners. This year, the meeting was held over three days in a hybrid format, combining in-person sessions in Tokyo and Imabari with online participation, and saw the participation of over 590 individuals from 142 companies both domestically and internationally.
