This month marks a significant milestone for Leapmotor International, a joint venture pushing the boundaries of innovation and sustainability in the automotive industry, as it begins shipping Leapmotor electric vehicles from China to Europe for the first time. While exports of electric vehicles from China to Europe have been strong since last year, led by BYD, short for “Build Your Dreams” and headquartered in China, the addition of Leapmotor’s vehicles is expected to accelerate this trend. Japanese automotive operators, already struggling with shipping space shortages and routing challenges around the Red Sea, face a new challenge in how to respond to this increased export activity from China.
Leapmotor International, a joint venture between Stellantis and Leapmotor, is committed to redefining electric vehicles through cutting-edge technology and innovation, boasting comprehensive in-house development capabilities. Led by Stellantis, the company plans to sell the C10 EV and T03 EV in nine European countries starting in September. Furthermore, they aim to establish 200 sales outlets for Leapmotor vehicles across Europe by the end of 2024, expanding to up to 500 locations by 2026.

〆中国から欧州へLeapmotorの電気自動車の出荷が始まる。
今月、中国から欧州に Leapmotorの電気自動車が初めて出荷され、自動車業界のイノベーションと持続可能性の限界を押し広げる合弁会社LeapmotorInternational にとって重要な節目となりました。中国から欧州向け電気自動車ではBYD、short for「Build Your Dream, headquarters in China」の輸出が昨年から旺盛だったが、今回、さらに中国からLeapmotorの電気自動車の輸出が加速する。日本の自動車オペレーターは紅海の迂回で船腹不足、配船に苦労しており、今後、中国の電気自動車輸出にどう対応するのかも課題となりそうだ。
ステランティス（Stellantis）とリープモーターの合弁会社であるリープモーター・インターナショナルは、最先端の技術とイノベーションを通じて電気自動車を再定義することに専念しており、包括的な自社開発能力を誇っている。
Stellantis 主導の同社は、9月からヨーロッパ9カ国でC10 EVとT03 EVを販売し、2024年末までにヨーロッパ全土で Leapmotor 車両の販売拠点を200か所、2026年までに最大500か所に設置する計画である。
