The Maritime and Port Authority of Singapore (MPA) confirmed on 31 December 2024 that a collision had occurred between the Singapore-flagged 82,000 DWT Kamsarmax bulk carrier YANGZE 22 and the Japan-flagged 174,700 DWT Cape-size bulk carrier VEGA DREAM on the Yangtze River in China. The incident took place at approximately 10 p.m. Singapore time on 30 December 2024.

The MPA released the following details regarding the incident:
- The YANGZE 22 sustained damage to its hull and is currently anchored at Hengsha East Anchorage for damage assessment. Approximately nine tonnes of fuel oil were reported to have spilled as a result of the collision.
- The Shanghai Maritime Safety Administration (MSA) has coordinated oil spill cleanup operations alongside several support vessels dispatched by the operator of YANGZE 22. The MPA stated that the situation is under control, as per updates received from the Shanghai MSA.
- Both vessels are reported to be stable, and no injuries to crew members have been reported.
- The MPA is maintaining communication with the ship management company of YANGZE 22 and the Shanghai MSA to provide necessary assistance. An investigation into the collision is expected to follow.
According to VesselsValue, a UK-based ship valuation company, the YANGZE 22 was built in 2022 by Jiangsu Yangzi-Mitsui Shipbuilding in China. The vessel is owned by Singapore’s Yangzijiang Shipping and operated by Montfort, a Switzerland-based company. At the time of the incident, it was en route to Shanghai. Meanwhile, the VEGA DREAM, constructed in 2010 by Namura Shipbuilding, is deployed for operations serving Baoshan Iron & Steel.
〆中国・長江でシンガポール船籍のカムサマックスとケープサイズが接触事故
シンガポール海事港湾庁（MPA）は2024年12月31日、シンガポール船籍の82,000重量トン型カムサマックス型バルカー「YANGZE 22」と日本船籍の174,700重量トン型ケープサイズバルカー「VEGA DREAM」が中国の長江で衝突したことを確認したと発表した。事故は2024年12月30日午後10時（シンガポール時間）頃に発生した。
MPAは事故について次のように発表した。
- 「YANGZE 22」は船体に損傷を受けており、損傷の評価のため恒沙東碇泊地に停泊中。また、この衝突により約9トンの燃料油が流出したことが報告されている。
- 上海海事局（MSA）は、「YANGZE 22」の運航会社が派遣した複数の支援船と共に、燃料油の清掃作業を進めている。MPAは、上海海事局から状況が管理下にあるとの報告を受けている。
- 「YANGZE 22」と「VEGA DREAM」の両船は安定した状態にあり、どちらの乗組員にもけがは報告されていない。
- MPAは「YANGZE 22」の船舶管理会社および上海海事局と連絡を取り合い、必要な支援を提供する予定である。事故の調査も進められる見通し。
英船価鑑定会社ベッセルズバリューによると、「YANGZE 22」は中国の江蘇揚子三井造船（Jiangsu Yangzi-Mitsui）で2022年に竣工した。保有船主はシンガポールのYangzijiang Shippingで、運航はスイスのMontfortが担当しており、事故発生時は上海に向かっていた。一方、「VEGA DREAM」は2010年に名村造船所で竣工し、宝山鋼鉄向けに配船されていた。
